HIERARCHY

War Thunder allows Squadron leaders to promote members. Higher rank allows players certain functionality within the Squadron, but the rank also demands a certain amount of respect and responsibility.

Ranks are Private > Sergeant > Officer > Deputy > Commander, and a typical structure of rank would look something like this...

PRIVATE

When you join The Black Order you will be a Private, the bottom step on the ladder. Some members might never get promoted beyond this rank, either due to not showing the required level of ability or simply not wanting the job. Even so, you can still connect to the voice channels and join Squads, Exercises, and Ops.

SERGEANT

Promotion to Sergeant can be offered to you at any time. You do not have to accept it, the choice is entirely yours, but know that this means you have displayed a level of skill and knowledge that has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated by the senior ranks. If you accept the promotion, your rank will change within the Squadron and on Discord to reflect this. You will also be expected to display leadership to Privates. For example, provide advice to some of the more junior members and provide direction to Privates during battles.

As a Sergeant you may also be expected to lead a Squad. In War Thunder a Squad can be a maximum of 4.

OFFICER

If you display a high level of activity, ambition, and  leadership qualities, there is a chance you will be offered promotion to Officer. As with Sergeant, you do not have to accept if you do not want to.

Officers are expected to take command of Sergeants who will then relay those commands to their Privates, so the number of individuals directly under your command is likely to be the same. However your decisions will be larger scale, and you will need to be prepared to look to either promote or demote lower ranks as necessary.

An Officer could still lead a squad of 4, although you could also be in command of multiple squads. For example, if there is a large Squadron exercise taking place you could be sending orders to multiple Sergeants who will then translate those orders to their squads.

DEPUTY

There is only one Deputy, and this rank is effectively second-in-command of the Squadron. This individual can promote and demote all of the ranks listed above as well as making administrative changes to the Squadron.  The only individual that cannot be affected in any way by the Deputy is the Commander.

COMMANDER

The Commander is the top rank and overall leader of the Squadron, and will work closely with the Deputy to ensure that everything is working as efficiently as possible at all times.

As you can expect, the Commander has full functionality over the entire Squadron including changes of rank and administrative actions.

Commander: Preywinder
